About Magic Barry
Barry Richards is much better-known in the Charlotte Metro area by his performing name—Magic Barry.
He has been performing in the Charlotte area since 1995—but before that he was the very popular Dancing Barry at Los Angeles Lakers NBA basketball games, during the “Showtime Era” of Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy and Pat Riley.
When Barry moved to Charlotte, he immediately became a fan favorite at the basketball games of the original Charlotte Hornets at the Charlotte Coliseum (The Hive), where he inspired the audience for 5 seasons.
Barry’s popularity with the many fans at the Hornets games led to his being asked to make many appearances at Corporate and Family Special Events. This allowed him to utilize his various Magic and Comedy talents.
As Barry performed at more and more Family Events, he realized that his greatest satisfaction came from making children laugh…and teaching them the art and craft of Magic, as well as boosting their self-confidence and speaking skills.
